Once your application has been approved and you have received the certificate of currency we can no longer cancel the cover.
By becoming a member of Duck for Cover you join master insurance policies held by Duck for Cover on behalf of members.
The insurance policies that you select as part of your membership are not cancellable and refunded premiums are not provided by insurers.
This is stated in our website under “Rates”, during the application process, before you agree to the cover, and again at the bottom of your insurance certificates.
The reason membership cannot be cancelled is twofold: -
Members can use a single printed certificate of currency up until expiry of the policy on 12 October.
Both the principal hiring your act and the venue where you are performing can be satisfied that their interest will be covered during your performance because your certificate states the policy cannot be cancelled.
If a member was able to cancel their membership and we refunded insurance premiums, there is nothing preventing the ex-member still using the issued certificate to continue performing and insurers would still have to pay claims.
The premium payable for a Duck member is the same for a single day as it is for the full 12 months. Any member needing cover for a single gig still needs to become approved as a member of Duck for Cover to access the insurance .
However, if there are extenuating circumstances that led to your request to cancel your membership and receive refunded insurance premiums – please provide full details and include any relevant supporting documentation. We will then make a special application to our members insurers on your behalf and will let you know their response as soon as it is received.
